Under the CIO's direction, the person will be responsible for participating in the development, maintenance and project support of various administrative web applications for contacts with students or clients, from the design of efficient database schemas to the frontend layout.
Web applications (written in Django) should allow either to convert old existing tools (i.e. programs for MS Windows) to Web 2.0 (reducing maintenance and software dependencies) or to introduce new features and to automate certain tasks.
When an established and under active development alternative exists (i.e. OpenConf, Magento...) then this alternative will be used and customized to ensure integration with the rest of the ICT infrastructure (i.e. LDAP authentication, database manipulation…) and to provide a useful data flow with the rest of available tools.
These alternatives should preferably be in PHP if a suitable Python/Django candidate is not found.
